Leaving trash on the beach is dangerous to wildlife, beachgoers and boaters. Aquatic debris is a threat to activities such as swimming, boating and fishing. Trash in the water can also damage the boat propeller, which can cause a navigation hazard. Ocean animals are mistaken with trash for food. For example, if you put a grocery bag in the water it would look like a jellyfish. If people drop their fishing line in the water, animals can become tangled in them. The ocean sustains half of the oxygen that we breathe and it is essential part of the water cycle. It helps provide the water that we drink. Ocean trash is ranked one of the most serious pollution of our time. There are many ways to stop this. In areas in all of the beaches they have "beach cleanups." Beach cleanups are when you get a group of people together and go along the beaches and pick up all of the trash that you see. Make sure when you go to the beach, throw out your trash. Also be look around and see if there is any trash that needs to be picked up. More than 100,000 animals die every year after ingesting or becoming entangled in plastic. Plastic items become intestinal blockages. If you see trash on the ground, it is good to recycle the trash. All beaches have recycling trash cans. If you see plastic on the ground, they have a recycling trash can for that. Help save the sea animalsny picking up the trash and recycling.
